STATS- impact in our community


During 2008

 

  •     3,689 total collisions occurred
  •     451 people were injured in traffic collisions
  •     17 people were killed as a result of traffic collisions
  •     Approx. 1 person was killed every 22 days
  •     Approx. 1 person was injured daily
  •     10 collisions were reported daily
  •     40% of drivers involved in fatal collisions were traveling at an unsafe speed
  •     Running off the road was the most common driver error in fatal collisions
  •     Following too closely was the most common driver error in injury collisions
  •     28% of drivers had consumed alcohol prior to a fatal crash
  •     Using restraints reduced the likelihood of sustaining an injury, and the severity of injury decreased

 

During 2009
 

 

  •     There were 11 motor vehicle collisions which resulted in fatalities compared to 16 in 2008
  •     145 injury MVCs as compared to 189 in 2008
  •     2340 property damage mvcs as compared to 2763 in 2008
  •     697 hit and run mvcs as compared to 772 in 2008
